The sixth volume of the collected works of famous poet Avetik Isa­ha­kian (1875-1957), published in 1979, included a distillation of his volu­mi­nous cor­res­pondence. The volume did not include any letter to Nicolas Adontz (1871-1942), an outstanding figure of Armenian historiography and philology, who was the poet’s schoolmate at the Gevorgian Seminary of Ho­ly Echmiadzin (1889-1891). However, Isahakian made various references to Adontz in his letters of the period 1913-1929. The author publishes four letters from Isahakian to Adontz, written between 1925 and 1932, which are kept in Adontz’s file at the Hamazkayin archives in Beirut. The letters have been extensively footnoted and preceded by an introduction that comments and discusses their contents.
