A cultural history of every nation is highly influenced by periodicals, which are spiritual and intellectual expression of the nation and at the same time a reflection of its spiritual inquiries at every historical stage of its development.  Periodicals acquire special significance for the national community especially in its critical (crucial) historical periods, when it becomes necessary to consolidate the spiritual potential of the whole nation in order to preserve its identity and ensure its existence in the space of History.

In the Armenian cultural history special place by right belongs to the offi­cial agency of the Mekhitarist Order, Venice, “Bazmavep” (1843-2018) – to the patriarch of the Armenian (and not only Armenian) periodical press.

Bazmavep were (and continues to be) a spiritual bridge that connected the divided parts of the Armenian nation, the ancient and modern history of Arme­nia, preserving and transmitting Armenian national cultural traditions, insuring a link between the Armenian and European civilizational paradigms. The con­sistent policy conducted for already 175 years by the editors of "Bazmavep" in the direction of preservation of Armenian cultural values has become a powerful mechanism for the implementation of the nation’s spiritual revival Program of Mkhitar Sebastatsi founder of The Armenian Catholic Order, aimed at restoring Armenian civilizational paradigm and preserving the Ar­me­nian national iden­tity.
