This study examines in detail the literature, created over 10 centauries (IVXV), pertaining to the five days Fast of Catechumens, which is kept three weeks before the Great Lent and is found only in the Armenian Church.

In the research, special attention is given to the Greco-Byzantine and Georgian writings that were composed to criticize the Fast of Catechumens, which in turn served as an occasion for the creation of the new polemical works by the teachers of the Armenian Church.

In the process of analysis, a number of historical conditions became clear, which may contribute to explaining the mystery of the origin of the Fast of Catechumens. However, this would require a separate study.
